Ieri l’ex Gurkha ieri ha raggiunto il Campo Base del Manaslu per tentare il suo 13esimo 8000

Dopo aver scalato il Cho Oyu (8.188 m) dal versante tibetano il 23 settembre, l’ex Gurkha delle Forze Speciali del Regno Unito Nirmal ‘Nims’ Purja ieri ha raggiunto il Campo Base del Manaslu,  l’ottava montagna più alta del mondo, nel Nepal occidentale, per tentare il suo tredicesimo ottomila e far fronte  all’ultima fase del suo ambizioso progetto: scalare le 14 montagne più alte del mondo in soli sette mesi.

Purja (36 anni) ieri pomeriggio ha riferito a THT  che, insieme ai membri del team Project Possible, tenterà di raggiungere il vertice della montagna, 8.163 metri,  il 27 settembre.

Parte di una  squadra di otto membri,  Purja, ha al suo attivo diversi record. E’ arrivato in cima al  Cho Oyu lunedì mattina, il suo dodicesimo ottomila in soli cinque mesi, e tra poche ore raggiungerà C3 del Manaslu.

Purja, che ha trascorso 16 anni nell’esercito britannico, deve scalare Manaslu e Shishapangma entro il mese di novembre per completare la terza fase del suo “Project Possible”.

Purja non sa ancora se le autorità cinesi prenderanno in considerazione la richiesta del Nepal di consentire al team da lui guidato  di scalare lo Shisha Pangma il mese prossimo, montagna che la Cina ha già chiuso alle scalate per quest’anno.
